We picked this bike up last year and Lucas never really got the hang of it, even though Mom and Dad tried their very best. Then one day about a month ago, he walked out to the garage picked up his bike and took off!! Of course we couldn't be prouder of our little biker. Plus he is the talk of the block. It's so cute to see older kids still on their training wheels ask their parents while "that little boy doesn't have training wheels".

Ok! So to the few faithful bloggers who are willing to check this post time and time again and to no avail any post. This evening Jory and Lucas are on a father son outing and Lily is asleep, so here I am posting.
We'll here are the two kiddos aren't they cute! Lucas is such a sweet boy and Lily is beginning to Giggle, what could be better then this! So I have recently leased an awesome space for a studio, now all I need are clients, miner detail. So all these photos were taken in the studio. It was an old lumber mill, high wood beamed ceilings and stained cement floors. I have all but chucked my strobes in the trash and have started shooting all window light how fun. And the bonus is I can't work nights, no light no shoot.

Here are some pictures from when we went to Saint George, UT over New Years. It was nice to get to some warm weather. We even got to do some Mountain Biking. This is up Snow Canyon, in a really pretty slot canyon. The one picture is Lucas with Betsy's brother Adam. It was a great trip. Betsy's parents and brother came with us and we had a wonderful time. Betsy wants to move there (or someplace warm/hot/scorching like Saint George), I think it would be a good place to visit in the winter.

These are our family pictures that were taken over Thanksgiving. What a blessing it is for us to have each other. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of how blessed we are. My wife and each of our kids, help complete my life in a way that I never would have dreamed. Family is meant to bring us happiness and joy, and mine does it so completely.

Lucas sure looks like he loves his sister, huh? I don't think that is a choke hold, or at least I hope not.

Lucas had a ritual of putting all of his balls in his crib to go to sleep, and as you can tell he has lots of balls. We couldn't resist taking a picture of him and his bedtime buddies. In fact sometimes when we forgot to take them out in the middle of the night, he would wake up and cry cause he couldn't find a place to lie back down.

So, I finally decided to update our blog some. I will try to get some pictures up. I will refrain from doing them all at once, that way you all can appreciate them more!! It's weird posting images of Lily from when she was just born cause she has changed so much. Betsy has also, she has lost almost all of the weight from pregnancy and is pounding out some serious miles running. I am so excited to have my workout buddy back. We went running the other night and I had a hard time keeping up with her. I would never have been able to if I was the one that had had to go through pregnancy, delivery, and recovery. She is amazing.
Lucas is doing well with Lily, when she cries sometimes, he just points his finger at her and very sternly says, "NO, NO, NO". But he will be a great big brother, we are just doing our best trying to balance the two.

Here are a few more pictures of our little Lily. In a couple of these pictures are Betsys mom, Joyce. She came up from Salt Lake and has been so much help. Betsy and Lily are doing great. The other day I had Lily and Lucas on my lap and was sitting next to Betsy. My heart was so full. Children bring so much joy into our lives. We are so blessed to have each other and two healthy children.

Well I'm not to good w/ the whole blog thing, so I don't know how these will turn out once I post them. We wanted to share with all of you, our precious little miracle, Lily Elizabeth Bulkley. Election day was held on her birthday, and though some people with good intentions tried to help with the name (Obama, Democracy, Liberty, etc) we did the same as we did w/ Lucas. Betsy picked out the first name and I got most of the say on the middle name and named her after her wonderful mother (for those of you who don't know, Betsy's real name is Elizabeth. She was born at 11:08 pm and was 7 lbs 6 oz and 21 inches long. We are happy to report that Lily and Mommy are doing great. Betsy was going to try to do it w/out a epidural but when she got to 6.5 cm she didn't go much further on her own, so they broke her water and gave her some pitocin. When the contractions really started going, she decided to get an epidural, but little Lily came and Betsy felt what seemed to be the full brunt of Lilies force. She was screaming at everyone. The doctor (and Betsy) had me gown up and help w/ the delivery. She came out like a greased football, but I didn't drop her!! They are doing great!! We are so thankful to have them both healthy and happy. Lucas is a great big brother and I am sure will be so helpful!! I will try to keep up to date on the pictures.

Isn't our boy cute!! This was probably one of my first days of rotations. I started my 3rd year of medical school which consists of mainly 4 week rotations with different doctors and different specialties. So far I have done Surgery and am 1 week into my second Family Practice rotation. It is so much fun!! I love it. It is so nice to have the support and love of my wife and Lucas. They are so much fun to come home to.

I was able to do some great Mtn Biking with my friend Seth this summer. I had to take a picture of him pushing his bike up Cardiac hill. He is a great mtn biker with endless climbing endurance. But I climbed it and he didn't!!! I guess to be fair I should mention he was riding a single speed, which he still is usually able to climb anything on. But this was a super long climb. Can't wait to get you back Seth!!

Ok, so this is not that interesting I confess. But I had to post something of my races. I had a blast this summer (unfortunately Betsy couldn't do these races with me, but next year we'll be able to do them together). These are pictures of the swim portion of one of the Xterra races I did. This one was a 1 mile lake swim, 18 miles of mtn biking and 6 mile trail run. It was awesome. I am hooked and can't wait for next year. I (along w/ Betsy's sister Jen) did one above Boulder on our way out west as well. It wasn't as long, but very grueling as the elevation was over 8500 feet which was a difference of 7500 feet for me and 8500 feet for Jen. So that made it very challenging alone. Over all they were so much fun. I also finished my first marathon in October w/ a time of 4:03. I was very happy and fortunate to be able to run most of it with my friends Trever and Ryan. Unfortunately we missed Nate (injured) and Lexi (my sister in law who tried it knowing she was injured, but was unable to finish due to injury. She gave a valiant effort in which most of us wouldn't even have attempted). Well thanks for letting me share with you some of my summer. Betsy took very few pictures as you can see, her claim was that she wanted to cheer for me instead of focus on pictures. And they were so darn expensive to order from the event photographer, and Betsy wouldn't let me screen clip them and post them on the blog (something about copyright). So this is all that I have. Betsy and Lucas were troopers throughout all of the races and sacrificed alot to support me. I have the BEST family.

So, mom came home one day w/ a Sandbox and swimming pool for Lucas. At first Lucas hated the sand, but loved the pool, well in Missouri, you don't have to wait long, (we got 7.3 inches of rain two days ago), and your sandbox turns into a swimming pool, and as you guessed, a big hit for Lucas.

When Betsy and Lucas flew in from Utah to Kansas City, we went to my old mission buddies house and stayed w/ him and his family. Well they have a wonderful free petting zoo there in Overland Park, KS for anyone w/ kids and a little time. Lucas absolutely loved it. You can pay to get a bottle to feed the little goats, Lucas was a bit scared at first but then he had a blast. The funniest though was that there is an area where they let the water run over the concrete so the kids can play in it. Lucas for some reason loves dunking his head in water puddles. So there he was just walking around dunking his head in the water. All the parents were frantic that the water wasn't safe, but looks like he made it okay.

While Dad was studying for boards, Lucas and Mom went out to Utah to see the whole family, I think that I (Jory) was the only one not there. Lucas apparently loved following around little Ruby (the one on the right). He loves being around other kids and it is so nice to have him get to know his cousins.

This was Lucas's first date with Liberty Wilkins. They went for a run with us and

So I know these are a little outdated, but I had to include these. On our way to Salt Lake City
for Christmas, we found out that our good friends, Jacob, Rachel, and Aedan, were on the
plane with from Kansas City to Denver. Our plane leaving Kansas City was so late (there
was a terrible ice storm) that we missed our plane in Denver. So we spent the night
in the airport with our friends. Jacob and I watched Lonesome Dove on my IPOD until
the battery died. Rachel and Betsy snuggled with Lucas under my coat. Jacob eventually tuckered out and slept with Aedan. Anyways this was quite a memory maker for us, and thought we would include you all in this. Hope you can appreciate this in the middle of Spring. Sleeping was very difficult due to the fact that it felt like they turned the heat off.
Also, they thought that the floor needed vacuuming right where we were sleeping. Anyways it was great fun, and we were sure glad to have our good friends with us.

This is the famous Slickrock trail. People come from all over the world to bike slickrock. The name is a little confusing because on a bike the rock isn't slick. Your tires stick to it enabling you to ride stuff you never thought possible.

So Betsy, Betsy's sister Jen, her friend Erika, and myself spent 3 days in Moab, UT mountain biking the week of Thanksgiving. It was a blast. Sometimes after being away from mountain biking we forget how much we love it. This was a good reminder of how much fun we have doing it. Betsy and I are also very lucky that we both enjoy it so much.
This is the beginning of the Porcupine rim trail. It apparently is a 15.6 mile trail the way we rode it. It is really one of the very best mountain biking trails. It was awesome. I should put a plug in for Jen. She did a great job, and got the most improved biker award of the trip.

Believe it or not, a couple of years ago we saw a 1 legged man (without a prosthetic) riding the trail. We have no idea how, but we never saw him again after he rode by us!!

So while we were in Louisville for the Ironman. We got to stay w/ Nate & Sarah. Well as you you can tell from other blogs, our familys have shared alot of things, but perhaps one of the best was that Sarah actually went into labor early just so we could be there to share that w/ them!! Thanks Sarah!! Little Cooper Wells came into the world so he could meet his friend Lucas and Uncle Jory and Aunt Betsy!! How thoughtful Cooper. It was such a treat.

So this is when our little boy first started eating real foods. He has been eating real food for several months now. But for some reason blogging just seemed like a big effort. Isn't he so dang cute. You can see that we didn't have a high chair so we had to feed him in what ever he could sit in. Now we have a high chair and it is much easier.

My brother Chad and his family w/ Betsy and I. We hiked to Bucking Mule falls up in the bighorns. The falls were alot bigger than the picture looks. Either way we had a lot of fun. I even got to carry Wyatt back most of the way. It sure is good to be around family isn't it?

This is my dad and my little niece. We went up to the Bighorns for a few days w/ some of my family over the summer. It was alot of fun to be w/ them and it was beautiful as always. We saw a black bear and several elk and moose. It was great to be back west in the mtns. We love it in Missouri, but there aren't any mtns. Dad sure makes a good jungle gym doesn't he?

It was so much fun catching up w/ them again out in UT, as well we stayed w/ Sarahs family in Burley for Betsys 1/2 Ironman. Sarah was pregnant when we went biking so she wasn't w/ us. These pictures are on the Wasatch Crest trail. It was beautiful and a blast

Yes, when Nate and I get together we drop about 15 years in age. It is great. Our wives just roll their eyes and laugh and the dumb things we do. I still have a bum shoulder and a broken shifter on my bike to remind me of Nate and my good times together.

Over the summer Betsy and I went out to Salt Lake City. We met up w/ our ole buddy Nate and did some Mtn. Biking. It was so much fun. Jory ran the Kansas City Half Marathon, and I ran the full. It was beautiful and fun, but much to long for me. Jory did wonderful and finished under two hours! We had a few other friends do the Marathon with us which made it some much fun. So here we all are

We went to the Chicago Zoo, and I was amazed with how fascinated Lucas was with all the animals

I'm not very good at this blog thing. This should be the first video of the series obviously. She is swimming in the Snake river. She did very good on the swim and came out pretty early in her wave.

Betsy, Lucas and Great Grandma Wright (Betsys mothers mother), in Sandy, Utah at Betsys parents house.
This was at the Scottish Highland games just south of Salt Lake. Betsys uncle on your right is really into it as you can tell. It was fun going there. From your left to your right are Jeff (Bruces long time friend), Cliff (Betsys uncle), Ann and Barb (Betsys aunt), and Bruce.

Betsy getting ready for her 1/2 Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, 13 mile run) on June 2 in Burley, Idaho. She did a great job. To think that she spent 9 of the last 12 months pregnant and then to start training so soon after having Lucas. She did great. So many people thought she was stupid for doing it and said she couldn't or shouldn't. But she did and did great. It certainly wasn't easy but she was glad she did it. Betsys mom Joyce came up to cheer and help w/ Lucas. I was on a relay team and did the 13 mile run leg of the race. It was miserable (about 95 degrees and no shade on the run).
Betsy and our friend Eugena (her and her husband our friends of ours that we met in Kirksville, her husband Seth is a year ahead of me). Eugena did great. Unfortunately Eugenas bike tire rolled off her wheel as she went into the last turn going into the bike/run transition. Luckily she wasn't seriously hurt, but she had pretty bad road rash and was in enough pain that she couldn't go on. We love you Eugena.

We stopped at Jorys grandparents house in Ft. Collins, CO. These are Jorys moms parents. It was so fun seeing them w/ little Lucas. Hopefully we can spend more time w/ them some time.

Uncle Adam, I was so excited to hear from you last night but I got so tired waiting for you to get home, that I fell fast asleep. But I just want to let you know that I love you and am so proud of you. I can't wait to see you in three weeks. That being said now go out and run , you have a triathlon to train for!

See our baby does smile

OK, this angle does make him look a little bigger than he is, but our boy is growing up!So, I can finally relate to all the mothers who bring their children to me to photograph. I have heard for years "really my boy does smile" and for years I have thought "ya right lady". Well, it is true, my boy really does smile, but when I put my big black camera in front of his face he is just so intrigued, that their is no getting his attention to get him to smile.
